An interview with the founders
David E. & Sheila Garnett founded iAM Solutions, LLC (iAM) in December of 2001. iAM focuses on Business Development and Capacity building for small businesses that have patents or intellectual property. We specialize in working with Senior Executives to develop marketing and sales strategies for disruptive technologies.
Prior to iAM, Mr. Garnett was Senior Vice President of Global Accounts for XEROX Corporation where his group was responsible for developing and implementing the strategy and direction for Xerox’ top 500 accounts worldwide. These accounts represented 52% of the United States revenue and 37% of the worldwide revenues. His operational responsibilities included all sales, service and administration for Xerox’ entire portfolio of services and products.
Mr. Garnett is an expert at blending the strategic with the tactical activities to influence performance and effectuate start-ups, turnarounds and culture changes. He is progressive and decisive with keen insight into key business, market and technology drivers for policy deployment.
Mr. Garnett was born in Buffalo, NY. From 1992 through 2012 he sponsored an annual tour of four HBCUs in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. During that time over 1,000 high school students from under served area in Buffalo were exposed to the STEM based opportunities available at these institutions.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh (CAS'71) and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders.
He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternities. He is involved with a number of community activities, including: Children’s National Medical Center – former Director; DC Public School Foundation – former Chairman; Washington Board of Trade - former Director; Historical Black College Visitation Program – 21 year Sponsor; Xerox Foundation - former trustee, National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education – (NAFEO) – former Chairman of Corporate Advisory Council
He and his wife, of 46 years, Sheila reside in Clifton, VA. They are the proud parents of two sons, (both graduates of Stanford), and four grand children.
